Deep Roots Music 2: Bunny Lee Story / Black Ark
Rating: 0.0/5 (0 vote cast)
The ultimate word on the history of reggae, this six part series, shot on film by an Oscar nominated cameraman, was produced in the early 1980s, just after the premature death of Bob Marley. This DVD contains Part 3 "The Bunny Lee Story" and Part 4 "Black Ark". In "The Bunny Lee Story", one great producer and his "family" of artists demonstrate how it's done (featuring Prince Jammy, Wayne Smith, Junior Reed and the fabulous backbone of the Bunny Lee stable - Jackie Edwards, Delroy Wilson, Johnny Clarke and Prince Jazzbo). "Black Ark" is a celebration of the influence of Rastafari on reggae, and this part includes the rarest of footage of His Majesty Haile Selassie. Also featured is Nyabinghi drumming (Count Ossie, Tommy McCook and Skully), The Mighty Diamonds and Bob Marley. Lee 'Scratch' Perry spends days at his home and in the studio brilliantly describing black power.
